What People Are Saying About Maestro Saless
Maestro Saless is an innately talented musician and conductor, without frills or ego. His great character and a good sense of humor create a positive atmosphere. His willingness to listen and take input from the musicians fosters an environment of artistic freedom. Most importantly, the Maestro is addicted to music which is very contagious, for the audience as well as the musicians with whom he works.
Mr. Saless has such a special way of communicating his passion for music on the podium. His enthusiasm is contagious and the results he gets from his players are quite extraordinary. I enjoy working with the BCO so much because the environment there very much feels like one big family working together towards the common goal of producing beautiful music.
Bahman Saless is a conductor for the 21st Century: entrepreneurial, creative, and plugged in - not only to the latest technological and musical resources but the interests of his musicians. Saless has fashioned the Boulder Chamber Orchestra into a unique ensemble capable of filling the Denver area's classical music programming voids.
The finest freelancers in the Front Range are drawn to Saless' singular ability to provide an artistic environment where they can finally show what they're capable of - and expand their horizons.
Working with Bahman was a pleasant experience - he studies his scores carefully, asks the right questions, and comes to rehearsal well prepared. His manner on the podium is delightfully free of ego - he knows what he wants from his musicians, and quickly builds the rapport needed to get results. I look forward to working with him again in the future.
I thoroughly enjoyed my performances of Bill Douglas' concerto last season. Bahman was extremely prepared and held the orchestra to high standards while always being kind. The orchestra and audience had an excellent rapport and I sensed that many members of the audience considered the BCO "their" orchestra and felt proud attending the orchestra. I very much hope we will have a chance to collaborate again in the near future.
The Boulder Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Bahman Sales, beautifully performed my 'Songs and Dances for Oboe and Strings' in November of 2007. I was impressed with Bahman's efficient rehearsal technique and by his very skilful and musical conducting. The orchestra players were totally committed to the music, and the resulting performances, with Peter Cooper playing the solo oboe part, were the best performances of this piece that I have heard.
I stepped in at the last minute to substitute on a Beethoven piano concerto. The experience was easy, musically fulfilling, and fun from beginning to end. Bahman Saless is a natural musician and an excellent collaborator. He followed every nuance, and I had the impression of playing large chamber music rather than a concerto with orchestral accompaniment. I was also impressed by the rapport Mr. Saless has with both orchestra musicians and audience members alike. The all seem to love and respect him, and I can see why. I look forward to future collaborations!
Working with the BCO and Bahman Saless was one of my performing highlights in Colorado. The BCO continues to present innovative and engaging programs that truly highlight composers and repertoire that should be more broadly known. Because of the quality of their performances, the BCO attract outstanding soloists that appear with the orchestra on a regular basis. I also want to applaud Bahman and the BCO for their tireless effort in presenting outreach concerts throughout the Front Range community.
